When our hypothetical young woman visits the restaurant at lunch, her situation may be even more difficult. Unless her place of employment has a gun locker where she can store her gun, she may be unable to leave it behind when she leaves the building. See § 134–10.5. And if she disarms before leaving work, she will be vulnerable for that period of time. Even this short period of vulnerability can be deadly: Ms. Caetano was approached by her abusive boyfriend right after leaving work. See Caetano, 577 U. S., at 413 (Alito, J., concurring in judgment).
