Chiles v. Salazar · ¶18
After Colorado adopted its new law, Ms. Chiles fled suit in federal court and sought a preliminary injunction prohibiting the State from enforcing it against her. She did not dispute that the statute has many valid applications. Indeed, Ms. Chiles did not take issue with Colorado's effort to ban what she herself calls “long-abandoned, aversive” physical interventions. Brief for Petitioner 10. Instead, Ms. Chiles objected to Colorado's law only as it applies to her talk therapy, therapy that involves no physical interventions or medications, only the spoken word.
