In 2019, Colorado joined 25 other States in banning the practice of conversion therapy for minors. Colorado's law— titled the Minor Conversion Therapy Law (MCTL)—prohibits licensed healthcare professionals from practicing conversion therapy with children. It defines conversion therapy as “any practice or treatment” that “attempts or purports to change an individual's sexual orientation or gender identity, including efforts to change behaviors or gender expressions or to eliminate or reduce sexual or romantic attraction or feelings toward individuals of the same sex.” Colo. Rev. Stat. § 12–245–202(3.5)(a) (2025).
