Batting away these foundational truths, the Court finds “no occasion to theorize” about the relative significance of voters' and candidates' shared interest in free and fair elections. Ibid. But it is the Court's own analysis—i. e., its purported distinction between the interests of candidates and voters in fair election outcomes—that raises the comparative question, not mine.
