The Constitution vests the “judicial Power” in this Court and in the “inferior Courts” that Congress creates. Art. III, §1. The jurisdiction of federal courts to exercise that judicial power is limited to “Cases” and “Controversies.” §2, cl. 1. That jurisdiction, in turn, comes in two types: “original” and “appellate.” §2, cl. 2. If a court exercises appellate jurisdiction, it does not exercise original jurisdiction. Mar- bury v.
