Beyond that single case, the Court does not dispute that the many other 19th-century executive decisions were incompatible with its view. And, it has found no examples of the Executive Branch actually affording the privileges of citizenship under the Citizenship Clause to a person born here while domiciled abroad. The Executive Branch instead repeatedly took the position that the Citizenship Clause required domicile.
